Experience from the room where decisions become outcomes.

Sophia Y. Marshall is the founder of Stratavance Consulting and a former global communications executive with more than 23 years of experience advising leadership through high-stakes moments.

Before founding Stratavance, Sophia served as Senior Vice President and Head of Global Communications at Fiserv, Senior Vice President of Division Communications at Comcast, Vice President of Communications at Wellstar Health System, and Executive Director of CEO and Culture Communications at GE Power.

Her experience spans CEO transition, transformation, M&A, divestiture, crisis, reputation risk, culture change and the design of communications functions for complex, regulated and distributed organizations.

Over the last decade, Sophia was repeatedly brought in to build or rebuild communications functions inside complex enterprises during periods when stakeholder confidence and business performance were at stake. She served as a senior advisor to leadership while building functions equipped to inform business decisions, lead communications strategy and support execution.

At Fiserv, Sophia built the global communications function and led the shift from product-level coverage to enterprise storytelling, elevating senior executive visibility and expanding the company's presence in top-tier media. At Comcast, she was hired to build a modern, integrated communications function for the largest division, directing a 52-person team.

Today, she brings that operator experience to CEOs, boards and private equity-backed leadership teams navigating complex business decisions and stakeholder expectations.

Communications is often invited in after leaders have decided what to do. By then, many of the risks are already embedded in the decision. I founded Stratavance to bring communications judgment into the room earlier, while leaders can still examine tradeoffs, anticipate stakeholder consequences and choose a path they can credibly carry. When the need extends beyond counsel, I help build the communications function and working practices the business needs.

What Guides the Work

01

Understand the Business Decision

Effective counsel begins with the business objective and the choices leadership faces. That context shapes the stakeholder strategy and communications required.

02

Treat Stakeholder Trust as an Enterprise Asset

Trust is built through decisions, behavior, timing and proof. Communications cannot manufacture what leadership choices contradict.

03

Build Capability, Not Dependence

The strongest engagement leaves leadership with greater clarity, stronger governance and an operating capability the organization can continue to use.
